  • Covid virus rules have been removed

Hi Members of Famparc. ALL restrictions imposed by the College in connection with the Covid virus outbreak have been removed. Members attending the clubhouse are not required to sign in at the college reception on entering the grounds of the college. On entering the club house there is no longer a requirement to have your temperature taken, wearing a mask, sterilizing of hands and entering your arrival and departure times in the reception log. Although, to protect ourselves and others, the washing of hands and following normal sanitation guidelines are always recommend. Roy. vk3gb. Famparc Secretary.

  • Be active!

With "Parks On The Air", "Summits On The Air", "Silos On The Air" etc etc.. being very popular these days for all Hams around the world.. Why not try it yourself. Last Saturday 2nd Oct after the club meeting.. Gerard, Roy, Craig & Peter, decided to hit the local Park only around 8k from the club rooms. The Pines Flora and Fauna Reserve VK-2795 Well.. we had a great time.. and made around 12 contacts using my IC-705 running 10 watts and my EFHW, strung up through a tree. As the weather gets a little warmer, the club will be activating more sites.. So if you are interested in coming along or creating your own group.. Get in contact with Roy. You can also get involved in building your own UNUN Transformer so you can use a simple End Fed Half Wave Antenna. Click Here for details. Cheers. Craig. vk3ncr

  • Build your own UNUN!

This Saturday 8th Oct. Richard, VK3TXD will be visiting the club to demonstrate the FRC 100W Kit. The FRC100W Kit is the EFHW 100 watt version UNUN Transformer. So if you are interested in building a 100 watt version UNUN Transformer for a End Fed Half Wave Antenna.... Come on down to the club this Saturday. Deposits or full payment will be accepted on the day. As you know I have been away on a trip with my wife, and managed to play around with the FRC100W UNUN and wire.. Although I have always been a OCF antenna man... I must say that I have convinced that the EFHW running this UNUN Transformer is soooo much easier, especially the tuning of the antenna. Although this is a sample UNUN kit from Richard, it is extremely well made and very robust for park and home use. I'm converted that's for sure! Craig.. vk3ncr Kit Sample.. will have instructions..

  • Clarification re Use of AX prefix

Note Copied from WIA Facebook Page Clarification re Use of AX prefix: There has been some unhelpful statements made by a splinter AR group re a proposal to use the AX prefix for commemoration of the recent death of Queen Elizabeth II. These statements have caused much confusion and if the proposal is followed then it will result in radio amateurs operating illegally and risking prosecution. The regulations regarding the use of the AX prefix remain unchanged and DO NOT allow for legal use on this occasion. Whilst it is a significant and solemn occasion, worthy of appropriate commemoration, ACMAs formal advice on this matter is very clear that is NOT LEGAL to use the AX prefix on this occasion at this time - irrespective of whether it is a major or minor breach.
