Just sent an email off to ascertain if the bearings are true or if the program calculates variation or not. Variation at the club is 12 degrees East, which if you have sent up your antenna with a compass as opposed to true. In the video is was mentioned that he had to calibrate his map by 10 degrees. That is probably because he used a magnetic compass in the first place to set up his antenna. An example of the error this produces is that if your wanted to direct you singal towards Albury, it may actually be pointing at Shepparton, and that is why you are not get the signal that you would expect.

Do we have room in our club budget to get two maps of A3 or bigger, laminated to go up on the club radio room? Both with the club location as the centre. One of the world with longitude and Latitude and the other map being Australian with grid squares.
