HamClock

Inovato the company that sells the Quadra Ham Radio PC that runs as a dedicated HamClock device, have decided to limit their distribution to the domestic US and Canadian markets due to the high cost of shipping and taxes, that basically doubles it price in non US markets.

They have however put up on their website the instructions for setting up HamClock on a Rapsberry Pi device. You can use even a lowly PiStar Zero. If you look on FB MarketPlace you will find that it is possible to buy these devices quite cheaply, or if you prefer checkout eBay.

In the link below you will find the hardware requirements as well as the setup instructions.

This package would make a great display on your TV, and possibly a lot more interesting than some of the rubbish currently on commercial TV. The HamClock display can be put through an external video display that has a HDMI port, or even through a PC.

For anyone interested in learning about the use of PiStar devices this is a very good introduction, that results in a great addition to any home.

Inovato website can be found at

I hope you find this link of interest, I know it certainly has my attention, but then again we all have our faults.😉

Thanks Craig for your kind words.

Had a great day. Trip to get new winch rope etc, mowed the lawns, and got to research a new toy. In spirit of full discloser I actually received today one of the last Quadra computer packages that they shipped out of the US. It was when I checked out their site that I found out the Raspberry Pi option. I may even go down this route as a learning experiment. There are so many things that you can do with Raspberry Pi devices.

Yes I think that we do have a HamClock on the TV screen at FAMPARC
