WHAT:

Norfolk Island DX operation

WHERE:

Norfolk Island

WHEN :

November 14th to 19th 2026

HINT:

Best place to listen will be the typical calling frequencies CW 7.028, 14.045. SSB 7.150, 14.180, also FT8. If propagation is good, we will also have a 6m halo on board.

notes:

Members and friends are advised that David VK3RU and Alan VK3XPD will be operating portable from Norfolk Island OC-005 from 14 – 19 November as VK9NA.

We might use our individual callsigns if requested and we will work on a QSL card to send in reply to any we receive once we arrive home. We will send via the bureau and only post if it’s special.

Equipment will be varied on HF.  David will have his new toy a QRP Labs QMX operating mostly CW and possibly SSB on 40 and 20.

In particular David will be keen to contact QRS members on Tuesday evening (local) on CW. Alan will be agile on all HF mostly 40 through to 6m SSB and FT8 using an FT817 with a small linear PA.

If QRP is too hard, David will have an IC7000 as a backup but keep in mind a basic QRS CW 5NN TU 73 is about David’s standard.

Keep an ear out for us during the day and evenings especially on 40 using CW and SSB delivering nothing more than 100W.
