Following an enquiry by Matt VK1MHZ, I took a look into the idea of taking repeater lists from my IC-705 and pushing them across the bay to his ID-52A to save him the grief of manual entry.
Good news you can and its not too difficult to do.
I loaded my IC-705 data file (*.icf) into the CS-705 software. I then went down to the section on Groups and repeaters. Next you go to File, and move down to where it says Export. Select this option and then save file as a *.csv file. You can as a double check, open this file in Excel and have a look to make sure all the repeaters you want to transfer are there.
Next go to CS-52, and work through to File, Import. Select the *.csv file you had just saved while in CS-705 programme.
You can now look at the repeater list in the various groups within the CS-52 programme.
After finishing editing any other items eg callsign, picture etc etc, save the new file as a *.icf file. Good idea to include some form of date tag, so that you can keep radio updates in the right order eg you may put file label as:"Matt_52_12_8_24.icf".
Finally connect your ID-52 via USB cable to your computer ,and send the settings to your ID-52.
This is more simple to do, than what it appears in this article.
As an aside its not possible to use a IC-705 *.icf file directly into the CS-52 software. It will come up with an illegal error message due to structural differences within the 2 radios.
Happy to take any questions.
